Flower power

I felt as though it was time for a break from the baby posts (even though he is all I talk about, think about, dream about… etc) and thought i’d share this necklace tutorial with you all.  Remember back…waaay back when I made the flower headband??  Well, this is just a smaller version of those same flowers, hot glued onto some felt added onto a chain!  Click here for the flower tutorial, and i’ll walk you through the rest.  ImageAfter you have made your 5 flowers, place them on a pice of felt in a similar colour and position them in a U, like this:Image

You will hot glue the flowers in place on the felt, and take your scissors and cut around the felt, making sure to keep it all as one piece on the back and not cutting them individually away from each other. I trim here and there always checking from the front that the felt is not seen popping between the flowers.

Once the flowers are glued on, and the necklace is cut out, you simply measure your chain (I picked mine up at Michaels) and glue gun it between the two pieces of felt.  I measured mine so that it would slip over my head so I didn’t need to add a clasp…but if you want it shorter make sure you have clasps in order to take it on and off.ImageImage

I have made these little gems as gifts and used all different colours.  So, why not surprise a dear friend this week?  Make someones day with a little flower power random act of kindness.

A helpful hint, rather than going to the fabric store, hit up your local thrift shop and buy a lace table cloth for cheap cheap, or cut up an old blouse or scarf!
