…I am beyond excited to announce the safe and healthy arrival of our little boy Judah Matteo Turton on July 7 at 7:47am.  Weighing in at 6lbs 15 oz and 21.6 inches long.  He is a tiny bundle of pure perfection and Matt and I are oozing with a new found love over this little babe.  It has been an exciting, cuddly, family-filled, sleep-deprived 2.5 weeks with our little guy, and we couldn’t be more thankful for the baby boy God has blessed us with.  He is so sweet, calm, an excellent eater and sleeper and even throws in a smile every now and again.

The nursery is officially complete ❤

I will share his birth story in the near future…as how can I put it, he made a very cheeky entrance.  But until then, I am going to scoop him up for some more morning cuddles, kisses and mama/son bonding time.

The Nursery Reveal

I hope all of our Canadian followers had a great long weekend!  Matty and I had some time to relax, suntan, and enjoy our possible last weekend just the two of us!  At the end of each  night, my elephant looking feet were elevated and the fan was directly on me as I recovered from the heat – but I am not complaining.  It was a wonderful weekend and Vancouver was breathtakingly gorgeous!  We talked about going to the fireworks last night, but as we were dozing off to sleep, heard them in the distance.  It’s like we are parents already, or at least taking advantage of every last minute of sleep we can get.

So with my nesting has come decorating.  I have mentioned before that baby T will be sleeping in the storage closet off of our bedroom, and I am finally ready for the big reveal.  This space used to be packed with stuff, and somehow over the last few months we have re-arranged our house in order to use this space as a nursery – and I am smitten with it!  it is tight, and tiny and just the perfect amount of room for a 7 lbs (fingers crossed!) human being .  We wanted to keep it simple, and went with a black and white theme.  There is baby blue scattered throughout and my favourite add to the whole room is Matt’s first guitar that he hung on the wall.  He has been talking about selling it for awhile, but to me, it is very sentimental.  I want our little guy to have it one day, and love how it adds a rockstar touch to this little rockstars room.

Matt build this ladder that holds his precious little clothes.  We were trying to think of a way to hang his clothes in a creative way as there is no closet within the closet (shocking!) and it was Matt who thought of doing a ladder.  B.R.I.L.L.I.A.N.T  I just love it when the husband comes up with such an ingenious idea!  I also love that he didn’t just think of it, but he built it!  He followed this tutorial and I am SO happy with the results.  Ladies, if you are reading this without a need for baby clothes storage, put it in your bathroom and hang towels, or in your room and hang your heels!!  Amazeballs!  ImageImage

There are little DIY projects spread out throughout his  room.  Like the bunting, the collage and the pinwheel mobile that I made him.  I thought in this post I would feature the pinwheel mobile.  I got the tutorial for the pinwheels from the incredibly talented Kelsey Ulm over at kelsoristo.com.  I was so excited to hang these little pinwheels as his mobile, but stumped at how I would actually rig them up.  I thought of getting an old lamp shade, some wire and trying to come up with something creative, but then nothing seemed safe about that hanging over my babies head.  So, my mom suggested buying an old mobile from a thrift shop and making it my own – GENIUS !!  A few days later she was in town and we were thrifting and found this perfect, white mobile that I took apart and added my pinwheels to. The mobile was $3.00, the paper $3.00 = $6.00 pinwheel = priceless as it will not be falling on my babies head.

So there you have it.  I hope you are inspired to use the space in your place to the maximum and to appreciate every square inch that you have!  Living in the city has taught us that, and we are so thankful for this apartment and for the little life that will be joining us here very, very – oh my – VERY soon!!!
