As you all know, living in a small apartment with a baby has caused me to be very creative with our space.  You will remember our storage closet turned into our nursery, and honestly, it is working out so well.  His room has a ladder that hold his clothes, and a dresser with a change pad, but no other storage areas for things like his books and blankets.  Then I got thinking, how can I store these things in a cute way that will be handy for its everyday use?  I remembered this picture I pinned on Pinterest and how I loved the way they repurposed the use of an old crate.

And then more crate inspiration came popping up in various places…

So after a trip to Michaels, this is what I came up with for our little living room…

If you head to Michaels and they don’t have these bins on the shelf where they should be, don’t fret!  I found these in the yarn section holding some yarn, but they were for sale.  I bought them awhile ago, and I think they were around $20.00 each – ouch!  But, lets remember Michaels has 40% off coupons almost always, so if you go with a few friends, you each take a crate through the till with your coupons.  Or simply buy one a week until you have reached your desired amount.  I left mine in the original wood colour, as they matched my dining room table perfectly like you see in the first photo, but you can also stain them, add vintage writing, or paint them a fun colour!

I love how Judah’s blankets are easy to reach, and a bedtime story is never far away.  When your arms are as long as mine, you can recline on the couch and reach everything you need from this storage solution in our miniature living room.           Well, almost.
